The iconic residence showcased in the movie “Home Alone” has finally been purchased, closing the deal seven months after it was listed, and just before the holiday season.
Located in Winnetka, Illinois, this luxurious 5-bedroom, 6-bathroom home was offered for sale at a price of $5.25 million around late May, as per its Zillow listing. The house is famously known as the McCallister family’s home in the beloved 1990 holiday film “Home Alone,” as well as its 1992 sequel, “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.”
Soon after it hit the market, the “Home Alone” house garnered nationwide interest. According to a report by People, Coldwell Banker Realty, the agency handling the sale, received an offer in less than a week after listing it.
Macaulay Culkin, the actor who starred as Kevin McCallister in the movies, even considered purchasing the property himself when it was first listed.
“I thought about buying it just for the fun of it,” he shared with Entertainment Weekly earlier in the month. “I have kids now. I’ve got a lot on my plate.”
“We are delighted with how this property captured the hearts and imaginations of so many, owing to its cherished role in film history and the enduring holiday memories it brings,” expressed listing agents Dawn McKenna and Katie Moor in a statement to People.

Built in 1921, the “Home Alone” house spans over 9,000 square feet and includes luxurious features like four fireplaces, two laundry rooms, two hot tubs, a wet bar, ample recreational space, a gym, a private movie theater, and an indoor sports court.
In its online listing, Coldwell Banker Realty referred to the home as a “legendary holiday dream home, reimagined for modern luxury.”
“This iconic brick Georgian mansion, celebrated in ‘Home Alone,’ offers a unique chance to own a piece of American movie history. Located on a scenic, tree-lined street in the prime section of east Winnetka and gracefully set behind a wrought-iron gate, this property exemplifies the quintessential architecture of suburban Chicago,” detailed the listing.
