Illegal lumber confiscated in Santa Ana, Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY, CAGAYAN – An estimated 4,000 board feet of sawn lumber were seized by authorities at an Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) checkpoint in Casambalangan, Sta Ana, Cagayan on July 31.

The police report disclosed that there were four suspects identified namely Jordan Dela Cruz Ramos, 31 years old, resident of 197 Calantipay, Baliwag, Bulacan; Ariel Perez Balibalita, 21 years old, resident of Brgy San Rafael Bulacan; Robert Timbal Gac-Ang, 23 years old, resident of Brgy San Rafael Bulacan; and Melchior Dignos Lee, 40 years old, resident of Brgy Barangca, Baliwag, Bulacan.

The suspects were arrested after a tip received by the officers on duty at the IATF checkpoint that a truck carrying sawn lumbers were being transported. 62 flitches of sawn lumber in different dimensions with estimated volume of 4,671.73 board feet and a value amounting to P255,115.00

The police said that the suspects failed to present legal documents for the confiscated lumber, and are now in the custody of Sta. Ana Police Station and a case of Violation of PD 705 or the Revised Forestry Code is being prepared against them. TNF
