Observance of Thanksgiving Affects U.S. Stock Market Operations
The U.S. stock markets, including major exchanges like the Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange, will remain closed on Thursday, November 28, to honor the Thanksgiving holiday. Additionally, these markets will operate on a shortened schedule the following day, Friday, November 29, concluding trading at 1 p.m. ET. The bond markets in the United States will follow a similar pattern, with closures on Thanksgiving Day and an early closure at 2 p.m. ET on Black Friday, as per the guidelines from the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association.
Normal trading activities will resume after these holiday adjustments. The markets will continue their regular operations until they close again for the Christmas holiday. The next planned closures will be on Wednesday, December 25, for Christmas Day, with an early dismissal also scheduled for Christmas Eve.
2024 Holiday Schedule for U.S. Stock Markets
Looking ahead to 2024, the U.S. stock markets have announced the following holiday closures:
