LTFRB RO2 Head – “The Modernization will push through”

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Even with people contradicting the flagship program of the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte, Director Edward Cabase emphasized that the modernization will push through no matter what happens.

“Tuloy po ang modernisasyon at ang rehiyon natin ang isa sa mga nangunguna dito”, said Cabase during a press conference before the launching of the third set of modernized vehicles in the region.

Seven modernized public utility jeepneys class 3 of NORTRANSMPC Cooperative which will have Tabuk City to Tuguegarao City route have were launched in Robinson’s Mall Tuguegarao.

These jeepneys has a seating capacity of 17 and can accommodate at least eight standing passengers.

Cabase said that this modernization program of the government is in support not only for protecting the environment but also for the progress of the region.

“Compared to the old models of jeepney, this modernized vehicles are much safer and conditioned to travel to national highways”, he added.

Last month, two cooperatives have been given permission to operate in Isabela with their modernized vehicles approved by the LTFRB to have passed the standard rules of the program.

The director also reiterated that the old model of jeepneys will be phased out, and that the drivers should not worry since they have been talking with many cooperatives who can bring in new modernized vehicles in the region.

A new set of public utility buses were also launched under the management of Victory Liner routing from Tuguegarao City to Mariveles, Bataan.

Present during the launching was Tuguegarao City Mayor Atty. Jefferson Soriano who emphasized the importance of being environment friendly.

“For the part of the Local Government Unit to modernization, we will allocate 25,000Php for the shift of old tricycle to E-trike”, he added.

Mayor Soriano also said that the LGU will add Php 5,000Php subsidy to encourage operators and drivers to shift to E-trike.

The LTFRB plans to fully roll out the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program on 2020 which seeks to replace all old types of vehicles into what they promise a new and safer vehicle.
