TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Two men including a former overseas Filipino worker (OFW) died while three others were injured after two motorcycles collided in Gonzaga, Cagayan on Wednesday, June 6.
In a report, police said farmer Alex Asia and Robert Mateo Vivit, 38, OFW, were declared dead on arrival at Alfonso Ponce Enrile Memorial District Hospital after the crash.
The two victims’ companion, Juluis Asia, was also injured.
Investigation shows that their motorcycle collided with another motorcycle driven by 20-year old college student Cjay Sejalbo.
The incident happened in front of Rebecca National High School, Gonzaga, at around 4:10 PM.
Police said both drivers did not give way while passing the school’s steel barricades placed on the opposite side of the road.
As a result, the two motorcycles collided with each other at the center lane. All riders were all thrown at the pavement of the road, police said.
Cjay Sejalbo’s backriders Alma Jane Unday, 22, and Rheisel Ruiz Casimiro – all from neighboring town of Santa Teresita, Cagayan- also sustained fractures and injuries on the different parts of their bodies.
Police said all injured were rushed to the hospital by Rescue 1025 Gonzaga.
The police has repeatedly reminded the public of road safety and precaution.
