TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A 22-year old fresh graduate of Cagayan State University was killed by her suitor in Tuao town in Cagayan province on Monday, July 2.

In a report, Tuao town police identified the victim as Rica Libradilla Villanueva, a resident of Barangay Mungo in Tuao.

Initial investigations showed suspect Rommel Payumo, 52, tried to court Villanueva, who was also reportedly his niece.

Villanueva, however, refused and reported it to barangay officials, prompting an altercation between the two.

Reports said Villanueva received 18 stab wounds, causing her immediate death.

Police said investigations are underway as friends and relatives of Villanueva cry for justice.

It is not clear, however, if the suspect has apprehended yet.
