PRO2 commemorates 4th year anniversary of Mamasapano clash

SAF-44. January 25, 2019 marks another year of commemorating the sacrifices of the Special Action Force 44 (SAF-44) in the Mamasapano Clash.

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan—In memory of the heroes who gave their lives during the Mamasapano Clash, the Police Regional Office 2 (PRO2) conducted a Wreath Laying Ceremony for its 4th anniversary.

Mamasapano Clash also known as Oplan Exodus is a historical lesson wherein the Special Action Force 44 (SAF-44) fought for the country.

Based on the records, this operation took place on Sunday, January 25, 2015, at Tukanalipao, Mamasapano, Maguindanao, by Special Action Force (SAF) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) (allegedly joined by United States Army Special Forces) against the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

Regional Director PCSUPT Jose Mario Espino represented by PCSUPT John Cornelius Jambora, Officer-in Charge, PRO2 in his statement that it should be forgotten and the lessons from this historical event should always be in the hearts of every men.

“We transcend other men because we commit to serve not only through community but by giving our lives”, he added.

The member of SAF-44 who are from the region are PO3 Andres V Duque Jr., PO3 Rodrigo Facob Jr., PO2 Richelle S Daluga, PO2 Joel B Dulnuan, PO1 Loreto G Capinding and PO1 Oliebeth Viernes.

Meanwhile, the ceremony was attended by the family members of PO2 Joel B Daluga who are from Cagayan.
