TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The airports in this city and in Cauayan, Isabela will soon cater night flights as it undergo rehabilitation and expansion, an Inquirer report said.
In the report, Makati City Representative Luis Campos Jr, citing a report from the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the two airports in Cagayan Valley are among the eight airports in the country undergoing upgrading projects.
Campos said the move will help decongest the air traffic at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at night.
“Several domestic flights departing Manila are being crammed during the daytime because of the inability of many provincial airports to receive flights at night. This has somewhat contributed to the jamming of the NAIA, which has only two runways handling both international and domestic flights,” Campos said.
Other airports that will soon cater night flights are Naga, Dumaguete, Dipolog, Cotabato, Pagadian and Ozamiz.
Earlier, Cagayan Third District Representative Randy Ting told The Northern Forum that the national government has approved the P253-million fund for the construction of airport tower and night lightings of Tuguegarao domestic airport.
The improvement, according to Ting, will pave way to all-weather and night flights for the airport. Northernforum.net
