TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Tuguegarao City West High School (TCWHS) in Barangay Pallua and Caring Elementary School were declared as champions in this year’s Drum and Lyre Competition of this city’s 2017 Afi Festival, held along Bonifacio Street on Sunday, August 13.

Both schools brought home P50,000 cash prize.

In the elementary level, Annafunan Elementary School placed second, followed by Cataggaman Elementary School at third, Linao Elementary School ended up at fourth, and Tuguegarao North Central School landed fifth.

Tuguegarao City Science High School and Cagayan National High School ended at second and third places, respectively, in the high school division.

For special awards in the elementary level, Carig also won ‘Best Production Design’, Linao won ‘Best Music’, Northeast Central won ‘Best Costume’, and Annafunan bagged the ‘Most Disciplined’ award.

In the high school level, TCWHS also bagged ‘Best Music’, ‘Best Production Design’, and ‘Most Disciplined’ awards. Tuguegarao City Science High School won ‘Best Costume’.

Each minor award included P10,000 cash prize.

12 elementary schools and six high schools in the city competed in the event this year. It was sponsored by Jollibee and Mama To’s.

This marks the return of this competition in the list of events in the city’s annual fiesta.
