Worker shot dead, one hurt in Tuguegarao shooting

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- A construction worker was shot and killed by unidentified individuals riding in tandem late Wednesday morning, September 20.

Tuguegarao City Police identified the victim as Diosdado Masirag Arugay, Jr, a resident of Ugac Sur, this city. His cousin, Marcelino Sepnio from Barangay San Gabriel, was also shot and is now recovering in the hospital.

Police reports said that at around 10:15 am, the victims were seated in front of Arugay’s family house along Luna Street, Ugac Sur when two  suspects wearing helmets approached them. The back rider got off and shot the victims several times before speeding away.

Arugay sustained six gunshots from a caliber 45, reports said.

Police are still determining the motive of the shooting. They said the two were not in the police’s drug watch list.
