Cagayan Valley welcomed 2.62M tourists in 2016 -DOT

TUGUEGARAO CITY, PHILIPPINES- The Department of Tourism in Cagayan Valley region said around 2.62 million tourists visited different tourism attractions in 2016.

DOT-Region 2 Director Virgilio Maguigad said the number is higher by 22 percent consolidated data from the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino during the year 2015.

“Cagayan Valley is so vast it offers a multitude of adventure activities to visitors,” Maguigad said at the DOT-initiated exhibit of Philippine tourist attractions in Makati City.

“We would like to thank DOT for giving us an opportunity to showcase the best of Region 2. This showroom in our way to make sure people will see more of what Cagayan Valley and the Northern Philippine Islands can offer,” he added.

Among the region’s products on display were corn grits, dragon fruit wine, coconut vinegar, carabao chicharon, lubeg vinegar, organic turmeric tea, and among others.

The region’s top tourist attractions were also displayed.

DOT Secretary Wanda Teo, meanwhile, praised the efforts of the local tourism agency, saying the region could be the tourists’ choice for the “ultimate tourist adventure” in the northernmost Luzon.

Teo said the Cagayan Valley region is now one of the Philippines’ top tourist destinations.

“Cagayan Valley exudes so much potentials owing to the region’s fertile agricultural and marine resources. It offers diverse tourist adventure in farm and eco-tourism,” said Teo. PNA/Northernforum.net
