SM Center Tuguegarao Downtown opens October 12

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- SM brings great shopping, leisure, and entertainment up north with as SM Center Tuguegarao opens its doors to the public on Thursday, October 12.  It is SM Prime Holding’s 65th mall and the first in the province of Cagayan.

The province of Cagayan stands out as a tourist destination with its picturesque mountains, bird sanctuaries, limestone caves, fluvial attractions, museums and landmarks and centuries old churches.

Tuguegarao City, the capital of the province of Cagayan and the regional center of the Cagayan Valley, is a major urban center in Northeastern Luzon and a Primary Growth Center.  The city’s strategic location is perfect for business ventures and opportunities, and is transforming standards in infrastructure to become the gateway to Ilocandia and the Cordilleras.

Strategically located in a 16,000 -square meter site in Luna corner Mabini Street, SM Center Tuguegarao will serve customers in this rapidly growing city, as well as the rest of Cagayan Province.

The 33,000- square meter mall creates a unique identity in the bustling downtown area.   A rhythmic blue facade energizes the main thoroughfare while clean white walls delineate the main entrances and dramatic linear overhangs stretch along the well traversed Luna Street.

The mall’s interiors are organized around an efficient “T” shaped plan that allows a clear line-of-sight to multiple shops on multiple levels at all times.  Strategically placed spacious openings, as well as sleek escalators and a centrally located elevator and stars, provide for optimal customer convenience and access to all portions of the mall.

SM Center Tuguegarao’s interiors are distinctly crisp and modern with relaxing colors that give one the sense of strolling down a boulevard on a cool, refreshing day.  The metal and glass storefronts feature clean, crisp architectural lines, while the walls are painted a light sky blue, intended to lead the eye towards the focal point of the interiors, the geometric ceiling.

These distinctive shapes are outline with cove lighting to display these unique accent elements inset with the same cool blue.  The inspired irregular polygons in the ceiling are subtly echoed within the floor patter and the interior signage.  The dramatic, continuous clerestory brings in ample natural daylight throughout the facility, which adds to the gracious and spacious shopping experience in the mall.
