TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Seven women were rescued in an alleged human trafficking operation in an inn, this city, on Friday night, January 5.
The victims aged 25 to 54 years old were rescued in an operation in Mecas Inn, Pengue Ruyu, this city. One of the victims came from as far as Cagayan De Oro.
Police said an intel operative posed as a customer and paid P1,000 for a room. After entering in one of the rooms, the agent reportedly found alleged illegal activities of the inn.
Meanwhile, police identified the suspects as Rolly Fajardo, 33, Erica Joy Montegrico, 29, and Emerito Lañojan, 40.
Two City Social Welfare and Development workers and intel agents rescued the other victims, police said.
Further, two of the victims tested positive of sexually transmitted diseases.
The suspects are facing charges in violation of RA 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003. Northernforum.net
