TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – “Party affiliation will now stop because we have been selected by the people. We have been given chance to serve therefore our party belongs to the people,” said Cagayan Vice Governor Melvin Vargas Jr. in an interview with the Cagayan Provincial Information Office.
The CPIO reported the vice governor has pledged his full support to Governor Manuel Mamba’s plans and projects for Cagayan after his first appearance at the Provincial Development Council En Banc Conference held at Pulsar Hotel Premier Suites on September 30.
Vice Governor Vargas said the time has come to set aside their own parties to give time and priority toCagayanos to hasten development in the province.
The Vice Governor said that some sectors have questioned his decision to support the governor despite their celebrated political bickerings in the past but reiterated that there is a need for unity and cooperation not only between the governor and him but all officials in the municipalities and barangays to set an example for the whole country.
People clamoured for the unity between the two sides after a photo from their meeting to talk about the P480-M supplemental budget for 2019 went viral.
Vice Governor Vargas attended the flag raising ceremony at the Captiol where he said his appearance is the start of unity for Cagayan.
According to the press release, Governor Mamba gladly accepted the unity offer from the vice governor and thanked him for his support.
