Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – An American traveler on Thursday, November 4, has been arrested by on-ground authorities at the Tuguegarao City Airport after cracking a ‘bomb joke.’
According to Tuguegarao City Airport Chief PMaj. Junvie Velasco, the New Jersey native George Adrien Favarielle, joked that he has a bomb lodged in his bag while being checked by employees of Cebu Pacific, prompting airport authorities to nab him.
Faverielle was immediately transferred to the Tuguegarao City Police Station where he explained to the authorities that he was just joking.
The American traveler’s companion during the incident was his wife Rowena Pascua, a local of Gonzaga, Cagayan who was celebrating her birthday and was supposed to travel back to the United States on that day en route from Manila.
PMaj. Velasco added that bomb jokes are prohibited in airports and terminals as it is under violation of the Anti-Bomb Joke Law and that his unit will not tolerate such behavior.
Faverielle was fined P30,000 for his violation. TNF
