TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- With two months left before the celebration of the 435th Aggao Nac Cagayan, the provincial government has revealed some of the activities of the event.

One of the highlights is the three-day Marian Voyage of Peace and Love from Tuesday, June 26, to Friday, June 29.

Some 18 images of the Virgin Mary are expected to stay in identified local government units (LGUs) of Cagayan.

A vigil featuring all the images is planned to be held in the Provincial Coliseum here, Capitol Chief of Staff lawyer Maria Rosario Mamba-Villaflor said.

“This also supports our faith tourism in province. We are well-known because of Our Lady of Piat Basilica Minore and the history of our province in so far as the catholic faith is concerned so it’s really part of our tourism promotion,” Villaflor said.

Following a parade around this city, a street dancing competition among LGUs will be held at the Cagayan Sports Complex on July 29.

The winning LGU will receive P1 million fund for tourism projects.

Also on Friday, July 29, outstanding Cagayanos in various fields are expected to be awarded in the 2nd Dangal ng Lahing Cagayano.

Meanwhile, Cagayan hopes to replicate success during Cagayan Valley Regional Athletic Association meet as they open the Paddrafunan Trade Fair. This will be stationed in Leonardo Mamba Gym, Sports Complex on July 24.

“Part of boosting the sales of the participants in the trade fair is holding events in the area. So that lahat ng magvisit, they can also partake in the trade fair,” Villaflor said.

The trade fair will exhibit local products made by the provincial jail’s inmates and Agkaikaisa Cagayan members.

A zumba session called “Zumbabaruen” will also be held at 4 PM to 6 PM in the same day.

For children and kids at heart, the carnival and rides will return to the annual event.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Health Office aims to collect 100 bags of blood in a bloodletting activity during Aggao.

The provincial government will also hold a fellowship night where outstanding employees and personnel of Task Force Lingkod Cagayan will be recognized.

Finally, one of the new activities this year is the Linubyan Festival and cookfest. This will feature traditional, “exotic,” and unique dishes of province. It is initially slated on Wednesday, June 27.

The Aggao Nac Cagayan celebration runs from Saturday, June 23 to Sunday, July 1. June 29 is the foundation day of the province.

This year’s theme is “Cagayan looking northward.” Villaflor said this signifies progress for Cagayanos and is aligned with policy direction of Mamba to “look up” to neighboring northern Asian countries.

“We’re inviting everyone hindi lang po siguro Cagayano but anyone who’s curious about our culture as a province, as a people, and to see how we party… If you work hard, you have to party hard. We want everyone to really enjoy. We have to celebrate our being Cagayanos our success as a people,” Villaflor said. Northernforum.net
