NVSU launches first ever IP dormitory in Luzon

Nueva Vizcaya State University officially introduced the first ever Indigienous People (IP) dormitory in Luzon and only in Region 2 yesterday, March 15 at their Bayombong Campus.

In collaboration with the National Housing Authority (NHA) and the Local Government Unit of Bayombong, NVSU formally inaugurated the P20-million worth indegenous dormitory building project for the IP students of its Bayombong campus.

The project is part of the NHA Housing Assistance Program for Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICCS)/ Indegenous Peoples (IP) as NVSU provided a hefty 2,788 square-meter area for building construction.

The construction started last September of 2021 and was formally inaugurated yesterday in the presence of NVSU Regent and OIC President Ruth Raña Padilla, NHA officials headed by General Manager Marcelino Escalda Jr., and Nueva Vizcaya local government unit officials led by Governor Carlos Padilla.

The program also tackled future plans of the Nueva Vizcaya government unit with NHA to develop government housing projects for local government employees of all national and local agencies in the province.

The IP dormitory built in the Bayombong campus is a one-unit, two-storey building, with twelve (12) bedrooms that can accomodate a total of 86 students which will help them save around 50-60% of student expenses, once operational in the upcoming comeback of face-to-face classes. TNF
