TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – At least 100 Catholic youth gathered at the St. Peter Metropolitan Cathedral on April 27 for a praise and worship concert spearheaded by the Singles For Christ (SFC) Tuguegarao chapter and Youth For Christ (YFC).
The activity with the aim to develop spiritual realization among the youth in a creative way was attended by youth from Camalaniugan, Solana, Peñablanca, Enrile, Solana and Tuguegarao City.
During the activity, Angel Encarnacion, chapter head, said it was in 2016 when ‘Live Christ’ was first launched.
Encarnacion said they have observed that participants of the launching of ‘Live Christ’ in previous years looked forward to the next conduct of the activity and that, it drew positive impact not only to the youth serving at the St. Peter Metropolitan Cathedral but also to the students from the different schools citywide.
This is the reason why we relaunched the praise and worship concert, he said as he informed the attendees.
During the concert proper, attendees were joined in prayers, reflection from movie clips, and singing of praise and worship songs.
In a facebook post, Mark Djeron Tumabao, member said he is overwhelmed with the presence of the attendees who he said are from different organizations and others belong from other sects.
“We expected for participants but we did not see na ganito karami ang attendees because of short preparation and late advertisement (We expected for participants but we did not expect that we will draw participants of this number because of short preparation and late advertisement),” he said in a post.
“It was indeed a night full of thanksgiving and worship. We really had a full house and together we had a wonderful time of worship. God is really good,” he added in the post.
‘Live Christ’ will be conducted monthly
For his part, Orly Trinidad, incharge of the activity, said in a facebook post that the conduct of ‘Live Christ’ is in line with the celebration of the Year of the Youth.
The theme of the ‘Live Christ’ is ‘Igniting and Uniting the Catholic Young People in Christ!’
Trinidad said ‘Live Christ’ will be conducted monthly and that the next schedule is on May 18, 2019 at the same venue.
On the other hand, Tumabao shared to #TNF that they expect more attendees for the next ‘Live Christ’ as it will be more engaging and relatable to youth.
“We invite Catholic youth out there to join us on May 18. I assure you that the prepared activities on our second Live Christ is more relatable to us youth as it will give us opportunity to reflect through the OPM hit songs of 2019,” Tumabao added.
CFC Singles for Christ (SFC) is one of the family ministries of Couples for Christ (CFC). The ministry was established in April 1993 to cater to the needs of single men and women from 21 to 40 years of age.
It initially aimed to provide a Christian support environment for single men and women. However, SFC has taken a more pro-active stance in providing that environment by ensuring that it brings Christ to wherever the singles are – in the corporate setting, in campuses, in government institutions, even in prison and in developing communities.
