Cagayan Crime Volume decreases by more than 19 percent in 2019

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Crime volume in the province of Cagayan dramatically decreased by 19.45% or 475 crime incidents in 2019 compared to 2, 442 recorded last year.

On October 30, during the presentation of Police Captain Sharon Mallillin, information officer of Cagayan Police Provincial Office (CPPO) in the Provincial Statistics Forum, compared to last year, the decrease of crime volume this year is very commendable with all the efforts of the CPPO.

On index crimes, 406 are recorded for same month period this year. “This decreases by 75 incidents or 15.59% compared to the 481 incidents recorded last year. Index crimes are activities murder, homicide, physical injury, crimes against property such as robbery, theft, carnapping and cattle rustling.

Meanwhile on the non-index crimes, Mallillin said that the 1,470 crime incident recorded last year dramatically decreased by 154 resulted to 1,064 or a decrease of 12.64% percent compared last year.

Tuguegarao crime decreases but still rank first in the province

Mallillin said that the influx of people from different municipalities recorded the city of Tuguegarao with most number of crimes as of this year. “With a total of 854 recorded crimes in the city as of January 1 to October 15 2018, presently, CPPO recorded 642 crimes with the same dateline.

Mallillin encourages active community participation for a better improvement. “We will keep our duty to serve and protect in order to maintain peace and order here in the province.”
