Emily Jardine’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary. From a chance audition to a thriving international career, her story resonates with anyone who has ever struggled to find their path. Hailing from Reading, England, this 37-year-old has harnessed her creativity to transform her life, and her experiences serve as a beacon of hope for those seeking their own unique direction.

After completing her business studies diploma, Emily made a bold choice to skip university. “I’ve been a musician for years and always followed my own path. University just wasn’t for me,” she shares. This decision set the stage for her remarkable transformation.

Early Steps and the Pivotal Audition

Initially, Emily took on several administrative roles, diving into the workforce. In 2012, following a brief stint in acting, she found a job on Gumtree as a project assistant at a recording studio. Here, she managed casting and voiceover artists until a pivotal moment changed everything. Her manager asked her to do a short voiceover. “I was terrified; I thought they could hear my heartbeat, but I fell in love with it instantly,” she recalls, a sentiment echoed in her interview with Il Messaggero.

To gain recognition, Emily worked for free for a few months. “Over time, clients started reaching out to me, and I began getting paid. It just kept growing until I found myself working with giants like Vodafone, Milka, and Coca-Cola,” she explains.

A Global Triumph

In 2017, nearly a decade into her career, Emily made the bold decision to leave her agency and pursue a path as an independent voiceover artist. This choice proved to be a game changer, with her earnings skyrocketing from a few hundred pounds to around £4,000 within five years.

She has collaborated with renowned brands such as Google and WhatsApp, with her annual revenue surpassing £114,000, approximately €135,000. Now, Emily is represented by 51 agents across 24 countries and works from the comfort of her home. She even built a professional studio in her garden to eliminate commuting.

“I work every day from 10 am to 6 pm. During a busy week, I might complete ten voiceovers and coach two or three clients,” she reveals. Thanks to her success, she was able to purchase a larger home, claiming that her quality of life has dramatically improved.

Breaking the Mold: No Degree Required

Emily’s life has certainly strayed from traditional paths. “Many fields don’t require a degree. If you have determination, creativity, and something unique to offer, you can radically change your career,” she emphasizes.

She concludes with a powerful insight: “Being a voiceover artist is incredibly challenging, but if I hadn’t been pushed out of my comfort zone that day, I would have never discovered how much I love being behind a microphone.”
