The world of culinary arts often intertwines with personal stories that spark public interest, and the recent episode of the podcast Passa dal BSMT is a prime example. Hosted by Gianluca Gazzoli, this episode featured renowned chef Alessandro Borghese, whose candid revelations about his life and family have ignited a flurry of reactions online. As Borghese opened up about a previously undisclosed aspect of his life, listeners were taken aback, leading to a wave of criticism and support flooding social media.

One of the most surprising aspects of the conversation was Borghese’s acknowledgment of his “secret” son, a topic he had touched upon earlier this year. “I’m the father of a 19-year-old son whom I have never met,” he shared, admitting to the absence of a substantial relationship with him despite providing financial support. “I follow from afar and contribute to his upbringing alongside my wife. These are youthful mistakes,” he added, stirring a mixture of sympathy and outrage among fans and followers.

The chef is also a father to two daughters, Arizona and Alexandra, born in 2012 and 2016 respectively, with his wife Wilma Oliveiro. During the podcast, Borghese revealed that his son is a musician, which struck a chord with him. “He plays jazz, blues, and rock—music is my world too, having grown up in an American school,” he commented. Although they have never crossed paths, he remains hopeful about a future meeting: “I’ve never met him; it’s challenging to reconcile the two worlds. However, life is unpredictable. I’m a public figure, and I don’t hide. He knows who I am.”

In an earlier interview with Il Giorno, he elaborated on how he learned about his son’s birth much later and promptly provided financial assistance. “There are unique dynamics involved. But I recognized him immediately and have been a consistent supporter,” he stated, a sentiment echoed by Open. This revelation, however, did not shield him from harsh criticism on social media.

The backlash was swift and severe, reminiscent of a previous incident where Borghese faced backlash for discussing his unpaid internship experiences. “He should stick to 4 Ristoranti, because every time he opens his mouth, he digs his own grave,” one commenter remarked. Another added, “He calls his son a ‘mistake’ and claims it’s hard to balance things. Really?” Such comments reflect a growing frustration with Borghese’s perceived detachment in discussing his fatherhood.

During the podcast, he also addressed the prevailing issues facing young people today, stating, “I worked my way up. Now, if you mention that, you’re labeled a slave driver. I provide my young staff with a thirteenth and fourteenth month salary and welfare benefits. Today’s youth expect everything immediately. They come in asking, ‘How much do I earn? What are my days off?’ I respond, ‘Show me what you can do.’”
