The Cagayan Provincial Learning and Resource Center (CPLRC) has donated different Reader’s Digest books and other reading materials to Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients who are admitted at Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC).
According to Michael Pinto, chief of CPLRC, he said that being quarantined for 14-days in a room is difficult for the patients. “Through the innovative books, we can help them and they can entertain themselves through reading while being quarantined,” he added.
In addition, Pinto also said that after CVMC, they will be also be giving books to district hospitals in the province.
“We taught of doing this because we know they are facing difficult situation and we want to enrich their minds and have a positive outlook that they can win over their disease through reading. It’s our way of bringing close to them the services of our center,” he added.
The CPLRC, because of its programs and innovations was adjudged as one of the 2019 Top Performing Libraries in the Philippines while Pinto garnered 2nd Placer in the 2020 Gawad Parangal sa Natatanging Propesyonal na Tagapangasiwa ng Pampublikong Aklatan in the national level. TNF
