TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan–National Progressive Groups leaders urged for an independent investigation regarding the murder of National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP), Consultant, Randy Felix Malayao on Friday morning, February 8, 2019.
On the press conference conducted at Hotel Delfino, Satur Ocampo, Bayan Muna/Makabayan said that they strongly condemned the brutal killing of Malayao and urged to the independent Agencies to conduct an independent investigation on Malayao’s case.
“There is no conflict resolved through guns but always in peace talks”, Ocampo said.
Ocampo emphasized that the murder of Malayao is an attack on localized peace talk.
Moreover, during the press conference, Jigs Clamor, Karapatan stressed that the allegation of the Police Regional Office 2 (PRO2) to Perla Upano Malayao and Atty. Edu Balgos is not credible and just a mere creation to divert the real issue.
“134 human rights advocates had already been killed under the Duterte Administration”, Clamor added.
Clamor also said that the belongings of Malayao should not be the highlight of this case but the death of Malayao.
Meanwhile, Jackie Valencia, Karapatan-Cagayan Valley cried out during the press conference as she expressed her sentiment to the late Randy Malayao.
“It is a against human rights and and the call for true democracy”, Valencia said.
Mia Liquigan, Gabriella-Cagayan Valley said, “Ang pamamaslang kay Randy ay kabastusan sa karapatan at adhikain ng mamayan”.
Furthermore, the group said that the independent investigative group that should looked on the case of Malayao’s case is the Commission on Human Rights.
Rita Baua, Bayan, “We could also request from the Integrated Bar of the Philippine (IBP) or even take it up to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
“Justice for Randy! Stop the Killing! Stop the Attacks”, emphasized by the progressive groups.
Lastly, Clamor said that expect statement from the side Perla Upano Malayao this coming week.
