The head teacher of Ortiz Zaranay Elementary School in Cabatuan, Isabela has been arrested for pushing and selling illegal drugs to a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency agent on February 11, according to a report from the Police Regional Office 2 (PRO-2).
PRO-2 Director Police Brigadier General Angelito Casimiro identified the school head teacher as Jesus Ramirez, a priority target included in PRO-2’s High-Value-Individual list.
Operatives from Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Isabela Police Provincial Office, and Cabatuan Police Station conducted the sting that led to the arrest of the teacher.
According to the police report, after Ramirez sold a sachet of shabu to a PDEA agent who acted as a poseur buyer, operatives from the different concerned agencies rushed to apprehend the teacher.
Ramirez will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
In an official statement released by the Schools Division of Isabela (SDO), they said that the Department of Education is strongly condemning the “unlawful act committed by that DepEd teacher who violated R.A. 9165”.
The division also clarified that it was an isolated case and is not reflective of the dedication, perseverance and sacrifices of the DepEd teachers in Isabela.
SDO Isabela has also started conducting their own investigation.
