TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Twenty-one ranking officers of the 5th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army based in Isabela province had undergone in a surprise drug test on Friday, October 7.
Captain Evelyn Audencial, head of the 5th ID public affairs office, said even the camp’s commanding general Brigadier General Paul Atal, participated in the drug testing in the Division Conference Room of Camp Melchor F. Dela Cruz in Gamu town.
She said it was the second leg of the surprise test conducted by the army division’s medical staff.
Audencial said Atal and the 20 other ranking officers “readily” submitted themselves to the drug test and provided urine samples to medical personnel assigned to conduct the test.
“Let us do our part as a leader to set a good example to our soldiers for them to see that we are clean and free from illegal drugs,” he said.
Atal, who was installed the new division commander just recently, promised to support the anti-drug war of President Rodrigo Duterte.
He said he will not “tolerate” those who will be found out using illegal drugs. TNF
