Tuguegarao City – PNP Regional Office 02 paid their respects today in remembering the sacrifices and the heroism of the 44 members of the Special Armed Forces or SAF 44 killed in Mamasapano, Maguindanao on January 25, 2015.
A Mass offering and wreath laying ceremony was headed by PBGen Angelito A. Casimiro this morning, January 25, 2020 held at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani, Camp Marcelo Adduru, Tuguegarao City.
PCPT Rhey J. Dollesin, the Regional Pastoral Officer also let off some strong and moving words during his homily saying; “Their readiness to sacrifice their lives was a picture of an extraordinary commitment to solemn vow for the country and people. They did well and it is a challenge for all of us to do the things that we are about to do including the sacrifices we are about to make for the sake of our country.”
Among the brave SAF 44 are six (6) natives of our region namely: PO2 Joel Dulnuan of Nueva Vizcaya province, PO3 Loreto Capinding, PO3 Rodrigo Acob, and PO3 Andres Duque Jr of Isabela province, PO2 Oliebeth Viernes and PO3 Richelle Baluga of Cagayan province.
Five years after the clash at Mamasapano, Maguindanao, SAF 44 are still and will always be regarded as some of the bravest soldiers to have fought and have died in battle in the history of elite commando soldiers. TNF
