TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- In the continuous all-out campaign against illegal drugs, authorities arrested a barangay councilman in Santiago City and three other drug suspects in separate buy bust operations this week.
Santiago City Police Station 01 and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives arrested on Tuesday, April 3, Barangay Mabini Kagawad Joey Dela Cruz, 49, who is also listed as a high value target.
Police caught Dela Cruz selling a sachet of suspected shabu for P500 to a PDEA agent acting as buyer.
Later that afternoon, Gonzaga Police nabbed Nestor Julius Doniego, 34, in another buy bust near the town’s public market.
Police confiscated a sachet of suspected shabu and P500 marked money from the suspect who was residing at Barangay Flourishing, Gonzaga, Cagayan. The suspect also pocketed a Swiss knife, police said.
Further, police said Doniego is a former tokhang surrenderer.
Later at 10:45 PM, authorities also arrested Weinright De Lumen Jr, 30, of Pengue-Ruyu, this city, in a drug bust.
In a report, police said De Lumen allegedly tried to sell suspected shabu for P1,000 to a PDEA agent.
Meanwhile on Wednesday, April 04, police caught Maria Fidela Garello, 29, in an operation at a hotel in Buguey, Cagayan.
Buguey Police confiscated from Garello three sachets of suspected shabu worth P500.
Cagayan Valley Police Director Police Chief Superintendent Jose Mario Espino said the successful operations are manifestation of “collaborative efforts between and among other law enforcement agencies, community and the police.”
“This only proves that teamwork brings positive result in working out to totally eradicate all forms of illegal activities in the community,” Espino added.
The police official also said the arrest of high value targets like Kagawad Dela Cruz has a “big impact” in the government’s campaign against illegal drugs.
“Our intensified campaign against the drug menace in Cagayan Valley is going strong by conducting quality anti-illegal drug operations through the arrest of priority high-value target drug personalities,” Espino said in a release. Northernforum.net
