TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Department of Education (DepEd) 02 Regional Director Estela Cariño called for unity among participants of the Cagayan Valley Regional Athletic Association (CAVRAA) meet 2018.
In the solidarity meeting on Friday, February 23, Cariño likened the meet to the solid state of matter. “If we are in the solid state, there will be no porous. We are one. There’s no way that anybody can enter and destroy such solid state,” she told delegates.
Cariño also said, while participants represent different divisions in the competition, it is CAVRAA’s aim to form one team which will be able to compete for the region in the Palarong Pambansa in Vigan this April.
She also said delegates should not forget the purpose of CAVRAA which is to let students and pupils apply what they have learned in school.
“Let us not separate curriculum with sports… I always appreciate this sports activity that puts together everyone, even politicians, regardless of party,” she added.
Meanwhile, the DepEd official expressed confidence on technical officials and coaches, that they will clarify and follow rules.
Cariño, now on her third year of running CAVRAA, hopes there will be no complaints on the part of delegates and that they should. instead, enjoy the meet.
“I ask you that during the games, while, of course, it’s nice to win, what we should be putting in mind is we are conducting this CARAA,” the regional director said.
“[This is] because we want to see the application of what we teach in the classroom, because we want to see unity, because we want to give help to other athletes and coaches, and to other technical officials, and, most of all, we want to see all of us from region 02 performing as champions,” she added.
Cariño also thanked the host division Tuguegarao City local government and its Division Office headed by Schools Division Superintendent Denizon Domingo, and other schools division superintendents.
As regional director, Cariño officially opened the CAVRAA meet 2018 later that night. Northernforum.net
