Model houses for DAR beneficiaries to be displayed in Vizcaya, Ecija

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Model houses showing the living space and features of affordable houses for agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) will be displayed in Nueva Vizcaya State University and San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija in the following weeks.

The said houses were donated by Future Home Company Ltd. (FHCL) who on Wednesday, June 13, donated two model units to the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) through Secretary John Castriciones.

In a press statement, Undersecretary for Support Services Emily Padilla said the model houses displayed in the said provinces will be visited and viewed by ARBs.

We want them to see the different designs so they can choose which house design would best suit their family,” Padilla said.

Secretary Castriciones said the ARBs’ housing program implemented under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) would greatly improve living conditions of the country’s farmer-beneficiaries.

“Most of our farmers and farm-workers are poor and does not own the house they live in. And even if they own it, most of their houses are dilapidated and needs repair. Why? Because the farmers would rather use their money for farming and family expenses than use it for house repairs,” Castriciones said in the release.

“Through this housing project, we expect to achieve inclusive growth by uplifting the quality of lives of farmers and their families. And also through livelihood and educational support programs that we will provide under our support services office,” the secretary added.

Castriciones added that FHCL has been a staunch supporter of providing social housing for the displaced families of typhoon Yolanda.

FHCL donated two house units with two bedrooms (duplex type) covering 37 square meters, and one greenhouse for lettuce hydroponics garden with an area of 24 square meters.

The units are displayed inside the DAR compound. Undersecretary Padilla said ARBs are free to choose their house design from among the model houses.

Further, Padilla said ARB products will also be on display as the model house room in the DAR compound will be turned into a showroom. Northernforum.net
