DOST launches e-commerce mobile app for MSMEs

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) recently launched a mobile application called ‘OneStoreCity’ that will help Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs) owners market their products locally and nationally.

OneStoreCity is an e-commerce counterpart platform of the OneStorePh website designed to promote local products and help MSMEs get back on their feet and regain losses because of the pandemic.

During the launching of the application through a live virtual presser in Facebook, DOST Secretary Fortunato Dela Peña gave thanks to Regional 02 Director Sancho A. Mabborang for leading the development of OneStoreCity app.

Dela Peña also said this will greatly help displaced tricycle and jeepney drivers who will serve as logistics partners for the safe and ensured delivery of the products to be sold by different MSME Hubs through the application.

MSME owners can sign up so their hubs can be included in the application and start selling their products.

Users or customers will sign in and search for MSME hubs in the application and scan through their products they want to add to their cart.

MSME owners will receive a notification that a customer checked out their carts and prepare the products for the delivery. They will then contact logistics partners to deliver the items to the customer’s doorsteps.

Users can rate hubs  as to how good the service was. Shops who stands on top will have the privilege of being included in the ‘Most Rated MSME’ category.

Processed foods, agricultural products, house decorations, and metal – engineering products are available in the store. Director Mabborang said they are expecting more kinds of products once MSMEs sign up for the application.

According to data from DOST, revenues have been ranging from P240-Million for the physical hubs and P.24M for the online hubs and are still expected to rise up now that the application have been launched.

The OneStorePH application can be downloaded at Google Play Store.
