TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- No less than transportation secretary Arthur P. Tugade led the inauguration and soft opening of the expanded and rehabilitated Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) at the Tuguegarao City airport.
Tugade, together with the officials of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), Third District Rep. Randoplh Ting and other local officials here, made rounds at the new terminal and inspected the airport’s facilities such as comfort rooms, baggage carousel area, passenger waiting lounge, among others.
Apart from the PTB, the airport’s runway and taxiway were also widened in 2017 while its Airfield Lighting System, which is necessary for night time operations, was also upgraded.
“Our goal is to improve and develop our airports all over the country. The airport is the first thing that a traveler sees when visiting a place, and we should be able to make a great first impression,” Tugade said.
The secretary added that the key to success is trust and oneness and we should not look into how hard we do it but on how the results will be.
Meanwhile, according to DOTr Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Manuel Antonio Tamayo, all these works are only part of Tuguegarao Airport development project Phase 1.
“Phase 1 pa lang po ito. In fact, this year, phase 2 of the Tuguegarao Airport development project shall commence which includes the expansion of the existing pre-departure and check in areas of the passenger terminal building. The second floor shall also be developed for additional check-in counters, all for passenger convenience,” Tamayo said. PIA/Northernforum.net
