TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- A retired senior police officer 01 and two of his companions are facing charges for transporting sawed wood lumber in San Luis, Roxas, Isabela on Wednesday, June 6.
Authorities caught a farmer and retired SPO1 Eugene Lumines, 56, driver Elmer Coquial, 40, and Godfrey Salida, 29, – all from Paracelis, Mountain Province.
In a report, joint forces of police and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) intercepted the suspects’ Isuzu elf truck that was loaded with assorted sawed lumber.
Police said they received a report that sawed lumber will be delivered at the said barangay.
Over 700 board feet of lumber were seized by authorities from the suspects.
The truck and lumbers were brought to Roxas police station for further investigation and documentation.
Lumines,, Coquial, and Salida will face charges against Presidential Decree 705 or the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines.
Earlier this year, Cagayan Valley Policel Director Chief Superintendent Jose Mario Espino stressed the public’s active participation as an important factor in the maintaining peace and order, and environment protection.
“We are giving our all-out support on the government’s forest protection drive to ensure a better future for our children and the next generation as well through strict implementation of Presidential Decree 705,” Espino earlier said. Northernforum.net
