SANTIAGO CITY-“Nakakalungkot na may bumabatikos sa aming kooperatiba kahit gusto lang naman naming maging ligtas at maunlad ang ating mga pasahero”, First Isabela Vans and Bus Operators Transport Cooperative (FIBVOT) Chairman said during the launching of the modernized jeepneys on November 28.
Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) region 2 launched the 15 modernized jeepneys under FIBVOT.
Edwin Acis, FIBVIT chairman said that it took time for them to unite individual operators to come up with a cooperative that supports for modernized jeepneys. “Actually, madaming umaayaw. Bakit daw kami mag-momoderno. Ito na ang resulta ng modernisasyon ng gobyerno. Maganda at may maiibubunga.
(Actually, some people don’t want it. Some even asked on why we would modernized jeepneys. This is now the result of the modernization program of the government. It will be better and productive),” he added.
“This is a breakthrough for modernization in the region. It will cater passengers with safer and comfortable trips”, Dir. Edward Cabase said during the press conference. He also said that they are aiming to phase out the old model of jeepneys to welcome modernization.
Meanwhile, FIBVOT Manager Arland Ramos said that this will be cashless because of payment will be through “Beep Cards”, and every passenger will be encourage to get their own.
Also, there will be no change in terms of fare from Santiago to Minuri, Jones and vise versa.
There were 15 modernized jeepneys launched and will be fully operational tomorrow, November 29.
