TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan-Philippine Chambers of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Region 2 will hold its ‘Business Conference 2020’ at Santiago City on March 26-27.
Through the leadership of PCCI RO2 Gov. Cloyd Velasco, the first business conference last 2019 in the region was successfully held in the city of Tuguegarao.
Velasco said that the business conference for this year will focus on digital economy as it is themed: “Expanding to new Horizons in the Digital Economy”.
“Digital economy is developing rapidly worldwide. It is the single most important driver of innovation, competitiveness growth, and it holds huge potential for entrepreneurs in small and medium enterprises”, he added.
Last year, Vice President Leni Robredo delivered a message promising help for region 02.
According to the data provided by PCCI, out of 108.1 million population here in the country, 78 million people are currently connected to the internet.
PCCI also said that this number will grow even more while businesses that will fail to get digitally connected will become excluded from the potential national market.
Atty. Edgar V. Mendoza of Mendoza and company said that as digitalization continues to be an important driver for global economic growth, there should be a promotion of its uses.
“We strongly believe that any discussions around the taxation of the digitalized economy should promote, and not hinder, growth and cross border trade and investment”, he added.
Meanwhile, PCCI says that only one of 12 companies succeeds in the transformation to digital economy.
“Acknowledging the need to transform and succeeding in digital transformation remains an uphill task”, PCCI added.
PCCI was designated as “Single Voice of Philippine Business” through the Palace issued letter 780 by late President Ferdinand Marcos.
