In 2024, Xiaomi’s entry into the electric car race has not only captured the public’s attention but is already setting records in the Chinese market.

Over the past six months, the SU7 has beaten the Model 3 in sales three times, even securing the top spot for electric sedans in the second half of 2024.

Although Tesla’s Model 3 still holds the overall sales lead for the year, with 176,793 units sold, the gap between the two cars is shrinking fast. Xiaomi’s SU7, with just under 140,000 units delivered by December, is quickly catching up, and the difference between the two is now a mere 5,000 cars. Given its rapid momentum, it’s clear that the Xiaomi SU7 is on track to claim the title of the best-selling electric sedan in China by 2025.

Xiaomi’s success in the electric car market is a testament to the company’s ability to innovate and adapt.
