TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The Provincial Government of Cagayan has reportedly collected low revenue for quarry tax this month due to the rainy weather in the province, Cagayan Provincial Information Office (CPIO) said on Thursday, October 05.
Provincial Checker Supervisor Winston O. Buendia told the CPIO that the provincial government has collected P4.5 million for September. This brings the current 2017 total collection to P64.1 million.
The Provincial Natural Resources and Environment Office (PNREO) said in the release that haulers are having difficulty in quarry operations due to due to continuous rainfall and water level rise in rivers in Cagayan.
Despite the low collection, Buendia added that this year’s figures are still higher compared to the 2015 collection which only garnered P55 million.
Meanwhile, Buendia reminded local government units, contractors, and haulers of Governor Manuel Mamba’s directive to suspend operation on weekends and holidays. CPIO said the governor prohibited such because of Bantay Quarry Checkers’ absence on those days.
Contractors and haulers were also advised to stockpile if they have important projects to finish, CPIO said.
Previous data showed that the capitol collected P7.7 million this July and P4.8 million on August. Northernforum.net
