TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Two suspected drug pushers were arrested in separate anti-illegal drug operations in Isabela on Tuesday, June 5.
Authorities arrested Christian Mark “Nognog” Barnal, 23, of Minante 1, Cauayan City, Isabela and Marvin Antonio, 32, from Barangay Piot Carangglan, Nueva Ecija.
Both Barnal and Antonio are unemployed, police said in a report sent to media.
In his report to Cagayan Valley Police Director Chief Superintendent Jose Mario Espino, Isabela Police Provincial Office (IPPO) Director Senior Superintendent Mariano Rodriguez said Barnal was arrested in a buy bust operation in Barangay. Antonino, Alicia, Isabela.
Alicia Police and IPPO Intelligence officers confiscated from the suspect a plastic sachet of suspected shabu, the P1,000 marked money, and a caliber .38 revolver loaded with five live ammunition.
Meanwhile, Antonio was nabbed in a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Jose, Aurora, Isabela.
Joint operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 02 (PDEA 02), IPPO Drug Enforcement Unit, and Aurora Police carried out the said operation.
Confiscated from Antonio were three plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and the P500 marked money. Two of the sachets were found in the suspect’s bag.
Intel agents in Aurora said the suspect actively engages in illegal drug trade in the said area.
Regional police stated in a press release that cases in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002” has been filed against the two suspects.
A separate case in violation of Republic Act 10591 or the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act” has been filed against Barnal.
Meanwhile, Espino in a press release urged the people at the “grass roots level” to help the police in the fight against illegal drugs.
“It is imperative that every barangay, as the first line of defense, must be self-policing and self-reliant against dangerous drugs,” Espino said. Northernforum.net
