TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Cagayan Valley region and four other regions’ supply of National Food Authority (NFA) rice is already wiped out, a group claims in an ABS-CBN News report.
Grain Retailers Confederation of the Philippines (GRECON) National President James “Mitang” Magbanua said they had noticed there was no trading of NFA rice already in the regions of Cagayan Valley, Ilocos, Cordillera, Central Luzon, and National Capital Region.
GRECON is an organized retailers group of NFA in charge of distributing NFA rice to retailers in market.
In the report, Magbanua said they already noticed the shortage of rice supply in January.
In response, the government moved to import 250,000 metric tons of rice, on top of the 325,000 metric tons already imported last year. Northernforum.net
