TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Students from Licerio Antiporda Sr National High School (LASNHS)-Main campus in Buguey town and Cagayan State University Aparri (CSU Aparri) topped this year’s Provincial Tourism Quiz Bee.
Held on Friday, September 15, the tourism quiz bee was conducted in celebration of September’s Tourism Month in Cagayan province.
Grade 10 student Jasmin Asuncion of LASNHS won first place in the secondary level. She was followed by Oscar Novesteras Jr of Western Cagayan School of Arts and Trades in Lasam town at second place, and Mark Anthony Aggalut of Mauanan National High School in Rizal town at third place.
Meanwhile, third year college education student Raymond Romeo Domingo of CSU Aparri topped the tertiary level. Rhenz Agcaoili from CSU Sanchez Mira and Samuel Turingan Jr from CSU Carig bagged second and third prizes, respectively.
Asuncion and Domingo each went home with P5,000 cash prize, gift certificates for two on hair treatment, local products, and an overnight stay with complimentary breakfast at B+B Hotel.
The two students will represent Cagayan in the Regional Tourism Quiz bee in SM Cauayan City on Wednesday, September 27.
The second and third spots got P3,000 and P2,000 respectively while the other contestants were given P500 as consolation prizes.
Students from 25 secondary schools and 12 colleges from various towns in the province including Tuguegarao City competed in the contest.
Cagayan Provincial Information Office (CPIO) said in a press release that the quiz bee aimed to encourage students to give importance to and raise awareness on the province especially its rich culture. Northernforum.net
