DepEd RO2, partner agencies offer help as part of Bayanihan Act

TUGEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – With the initiatives of Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Office O2 and its partner agencies, they called the nine Schools Division Offices (SDOs) to go extra mile and offer help.

“Work continues, but we also do not forget our frontliners out there fighting for all of us,” Director Estela Leon Cariño said.

While the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) is enforced, DepEd RO2 has joined the call for bayanihan to combat as a nation the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cariño said that the nine Schools Division Offices were called to initiate activities to help indigent ones, frontliners, health workers and law enforcers.

While the Bayanihan spirit continues to prevail, as of April 13, 2020, a total amount of Php8,348,958.20 was given to the intended beneficiaries in the form of financial assistance or cash donations, food packs, groceries, medical supplies and items, and especially personal protective equipment.

Public Affairs Unit Head Amir Aquino said that SDO Cagayan has given out a total amount of P1,315,762, while SDO Isabela also gave out an amount of P3,500,293. The SDO also initiated the giving of psychological support and intervention, and other related.

On the other hand, an amount of P276,000 was given by SDO Tuguegarao City, while many of its schools, like the other SDOs, initiated voluntary drives for the same purpose. SDO Nueva Vizcaya gave out a total amount of P925,139.30.

Aquino also said that in the form of groceries, cash, fruits and vegetables, face masks and other PPEs, SDO City of Ilagan gave out an amount of P576,382, and intensified its provision of free psychological support services and interventions. SDO Santiago City also mobilized all its schools to help the frontliners and medical institutions in the City. The SDO gave out a total of P181,678.

With no positive cases reported, SDO Batanes also showed its share as it gave out a total of P73,487.

Meanwhile, SDO Cauayan City who also reached out to its internal stakeholders for help in support of the frontliners. It gave out a total amount of P478,013.

In addition, the province of Quirino maintains its Covid-19-free status, SDO Quirino, they were able to produce a total amount of P1,022,304 as of April 13 and was given to frontliners in the form of PPEs and other medical supplies, food packs, groceries and other forms.

“This is our commitment, our humble contribution to the community until we as one in fighting the crisis,” added Cariño.
