TUEGEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Camalaniugan Police is now investigating the motive of an unidentified assailant of the Chief of Brgy. Julian Olivas Sr.
Police identified the victim as Eranio Caleda, 44 and a resident of the said place. According to initial reports, during a power interruption, the victim and his companions were fixing the power line for a #CoVid19 checkpoint when an unidentified shooter came out of nowhere and shot Caleda.
As of now, police are still investigating the incident of the shooting. Camalaniugan Chief of Police Capt Arnel Acain said that they identified the suspect as Geronimo Joaquin, a native of Urdaneta, Pangasinan. Based on police investigation, Acain said that Joaquin has a criminal history in Nueva Ecija.
“May murder case po siya sa San Jose, Nueva Ecija at noong mag wanted siya, nagtago po siya dito sa Cagayan,” Acain added. PNP also reported that a .45 calliber pistol is found in the sling bag of the suspect. The suspect is known to be a gun for hire. As of now, the suspect is currently under custody of the Camalaniugan Police Station.
“Ngayon po prina process namin ang suspect sa mga maaring impormasyon pang makuha kung sino ang nag-hire sa kanya”, Acain said.
Acain asked the public to remain vigilant and calm.
“Huwag po tayong matakot, lalo na sa mga residente ng bayan ng Camalaniugan. Nahuli na po namin ang suspect at sana po magkaisa tayo kapag may iba pang impormasyon na mayroon, idulog nyo po sa aming tanggapan”, Acain said. TNF
