TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- With the theme “Mahalin ang Pusong Nagmamahal, Maghealthy Lifestyle na,” Department of Health (DOH) Region 02 will launch the celebration of Heart Month at University of Cagayan Valley (UCV) Andrews gymnasium on Wednesday, March 7.
The kick off, DOH Region 02 said, aims to increase the awareness of the people on the prevention and control of the four major non-communicable diseases or lifestyle-related diseases. These are cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, all forms of cancer, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
DOH also said the month-long celebration will promote active participation of and gain support among individuals from various sectors, government and non-government organizations.
DOH 02 Regional Director Doctor Valeriano Jesus Lopez and Cagayan Valley Medical Center Chief Doctor Glenn Mathew Baggao are expected to lead the launch of Heart Month.
Prior to the opening ceremony, a ‘Fun walk’ around the city will be held from 6 AM to 7:30 AM.
The launch will also feature contests such as the Heart Month jingle contest for high school students, and Kalesa Painting and Infomercial contest for college students.
Further, a “Hataw Competition” will be competed in by delegates from Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya. Northernforum.net
