TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba’s Consultant for Sports Development appealed to the public to follow rules and regulations in using the Cagayan Sports Complex’s facilities.
Consultant Frances “Kiko” Kanapi said strictly following the rules is their simple request from patrons using sports facilities and that the public’s discipline is a “big help” in maintaining the cleanliness of the sports complex.
“Open ang complex every day, just follow n’yo lang po yung rules namin. Wala namang magiging problem dun kasi sayang naman, sobrang linis na ng sports complex, i-maintain sana natin na ganun,” Kanapi said in Pagdidinnamagan: Kapehan sa Kapitolyo on Monday, March 5.
The official reminded the public to follow restrictions such as smoking. He also pleaded to the public to use trash bins appropriately. “Nakikiusap ako sa mga gumagamit na gamitin lang ng mabuti yung mga trash bin na nandun, wag lang i-violate yung mga rules dun,” he added.
Further, the public are also asked to follow proper sports or running attire, especially shoes, when inside the oval or the complex’s courts.
“Ang pangit naman kasing tignan na naka-slippers lang na naglalaro ng basketball. Baka mag cause pa yan ng injury baka kami pa yung mapahamak,” Kanapi said.
Students of Cagayan National High School who use the complex for their physical education classes and other outdoor activities are also reminded to keep the complex clean.
“Pinapayagan naman namin sila, yun lang kailangang i-follow nila yung rules and regulations namin [na] wag silang mag vandal, wag silang mag-iwan ng kalat, wag silang mag-spit,” Kanapi said.
Kanapi said the complex is open for public use from 4 AM to 7 AM. After this, the complex will be cleaned for an hour from 7 AM to 8 AM. From 8 AM onwards, athletes from Tuguegarao and Cagayan will use the facilities for training in alternate schedules. The complex will again be opened for public use from 4 PM to 7 PM.
Because most of Cagayan Valley’s representatives for Palarong Pambansa will use the sports complex for their training, Kanapi expressed support for the athletes who will be utilizing the complex’s facilities.
“Since dun sila magte-train sa Cagayan Sports Complex, ibibigay talaga namin sa kanila na malinis at maayos yung mga amenities natin sa complex na walang magiging problema sa pagstay nila dun,” Kanapi told media.
Meanwhile, the sports development consultant also said Mamba declined to host CAVRAA next year, adding that the governor “wanted” to show something “new” for visitors should they host the annual sports event.
Kanapi also said he is proposing to Mamba a construction of a badminton court within the complex. He also suggested additional bleachers and fog lights which will later on allow games such as football to be played at night.
He also said that the Olympic-sized swimming pool will be renovated.
“Kung tayo ulit [hosts] next year, same pa rin makikita ng mga tao kung ano yung nakita nila ngayon halos ganun pa rin pero kung next next year edi baka andun na siguro yung playground natin, panigabo na ulit yung pool, ayos na yung Mamba gym, siguro yung basketball sa Coliseum na [gaganapin at] hindi na sa labas. Malaking improvements ang magkakaroon sa sports complex kung bibigyan pa tayo ng halos 2 years to prepare,” Kanapi said.
Kanapi claimed that, from feedback of delegates, this was the “best” CAVRAA meet, praising local officials’ “very organized” handling of the meet. Northernforum.net
