Tuguegarao City –DSWD’s personnel and teams from LGU Alicia, Isabela started distributing grants to qualified recipients today, April 9, 2020. The total number of recipients expecting their funding from the government’s Social Amelioration Program (SAP) is 13,270.
It was last Tuesday, April 07, 2020 when the local government started to receive the amounts for the execution of SAP, making the municipality of Alicia, Isabela the first LGU to be given the funding. The LGU’s target to is to complete the task in just 4 days, with an off-day tomorrow in observance of Black Friday.
The breakdown for the recipients is 5,958 target beneficiaries for Batanes province, 199,683 for Cagayan, 269,987 for Isabela, 80,903 for Nueva Vizcaya, and 30,144 for Quirino bringing a total of 586,675 targets of SAP in the Cagayan Valley Region. The total number of beneficiaries exclude the household beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) which is 106,122, who have already claimed their piece from SAP.
DSWD officials elaborated that for every qualified recipient, an amount of not more than P5,500 per month shall be granted. The Social Amelioration Program shall also be split into two portions, one in April and one in the month of May. Other offices like the PNP and the AFP have shown their support to DSWD by ensuring security and the safety of the implementation of the operations in Region 2.
