A hyper-realistic canine transformation
Known online as Toko, this animal enthusiast shared his jaw-dropping transformation on YouTube in April 2022. The footage shows him dressed as a remarkably lifelike Collie, lying down, rolling over, and moving just like a real dog. His videos quickly gained traction, amassing over 1.7 million views, as viewers marveled at the striking realism of his disguise.
The costume was expertly crafted by Zeppet, a company specializing in high-end cinema props and animatronics. It took their designers 40 days to complete the project, requiring meticulous attention to detail. In an interview with Japanese media outlet MyNavi, a Zeppet spokesperson explained that one of the biggest challenges was replicating the Collie’s long, flowing fur while ensuring the suit could realistically mimic a dog’s anatomy. To perfect the design, the team studied hundreds of images and examined the skeletal and muscular structure of the breed.
Why a collie?
For Toko, selecting the right breed was crucial. He opted for a Collie due to its long fur, which effectively conceals the human form underneath. “I’ve always loved quadrupeds, especially the ones that are cute,” he shared in an interview. “That’s why I chose a Collie—it’s my favorite breed.”
Taking his new identity to the streets
Toko didn’t stop at just wearing the suit indoors. Determined to embrace his new identity fully, he recently took things a step further—going for a walk on a leash, led by a friend. His goal? To interact with real dogs and experience life as part of the canine world.
