POWER COOP COMMENDS DOE-PIA E-POWER MO JOINT ADVOCACY CAMPAIGN

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela–Officials of the Isabela Electric Cooperative (ISELCO) – 1 here lauded the initiative of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) and the Department of Energy (DOE) for spearheading series of fora region-wide to instill awareness on how to save and conserve energy.

ISELCO – 1 General Manager Engr. Virgilio Montano, during the E-Power mo multi-sectoral forum in Santiago City in this province on August 30, expressed his appreciation to PIA and DOE for tapping their cooperative as partners in promoting the value of conserving energy to avert the causes of brownouts in various parts of the region.

Montano said the forum is necessary to inform the electric consumers to conserve energy and to promote electrical safety practices in the country particularly in the Cagayan Valley region.

In addition, Montano said, “I urge you [participants] to follow and apply all the things you will learn today to ensure continuous supply of energy and prevent fire incidences in your respective houses or workplaces.

On the other hand, Montano said there is a need to expand sources of energy from solar, wind and hydropower as these are considered environment-friendly.

“We fully support the efforts of the government in promoting renewable energy sources as it will not harm the environment,” Montano said during the forum.

The forum was participated by barangay officials, indigenous people’s representatives, OFW organizations, Rural Improvement Club (RIC) members, peoples’ organization, women-organizations, 4Ps beneficiaries, contractors’ association, civil society organizations, mountaineering club, among others.
