TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan- The town of Sta. Ana in the province of Cagayan has been declared drug cleared based on the recommendation of to the Regional Oversight Committee on Dangerous Drugs (ROCDD).
On January 8, Sta. Ana is the 6th town that has been declared drug cleared including 11 drug cleared and 5 drug free barangays.
Cagayan Police Provincial Office (CPPO) Director, PCOL Ariel Narag Quilang said that this declaration is based on the recommendation of the ROCDD.
“Ang kailangan nalang gawin ay bantayan at i-monitor ng LGU at ng local na kapulisan ang mga drug surrenderees dahil maaring bawiin ng committee ang declarasyon kapag may report na droga sa bayan ng Sta. Ana”, he added.
(What LGU and local police need to do now is closely monitor the drug surrenderees because the declaration can be lifted if there are reports on illegal drugs).
“These drug surrenderees are vulnerable to the used to illegal drugs which is why there should be strict implementation and monitoring”, Col. Quilang said. Meanwhile, Col. Quilang said that the CPPO will have discourse with Chinese nationals through the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) to intesify its ties since the town is prone due to its sea ports.
“We are in continuous coordination with CEZA and their officials to monitor the ports going in and out the town”, he said.
