TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Tropical Depression Odette maintained its strength as it will make its landfall in Cagayan on Thursday night, October 12, the the state weather bureau said in its 5 pm update.
The following areas were place under Storm Signal Number 1:
- Cagayan, including Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands
- Isabela
- Kalinga
- Apayao
- Abra
- Mountain Province
- Ifugao
- Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur
PAGASA said Odette may intensify become a tropical storm before its landfall.
Odette has maximum winds of up to 55 kph and gustiness of up to 65 kph.
The tropical depression was last located 285 km east of Aparri, Cagayan and is moving west at 30 kilometers per hour (kph).
It is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday afternoon, October 14.
PAGASA said moderate to heavy rains is expected within the 350 kilometers diameter of the tropical depression. Residents in these areas advised to be alert against possible flashfloods and landslides.
They also warned fisherfolk and those with small seacrafts not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of northern and central Luzon due to approaching tropical depression. Northernforum.net
