TUGUEGARAO CITY — Thousands of farmers here who were badly hit by Typhoon Lawin will receive an agricultural subsidy from the city government.
Mayor Jefferson Soriano said the city government’s PHP6 million calamity fund will be used to assist farmers whose corn and other high-value crops have been devastated by the recent super typhoon.
“We will distribute vegetable seeds, legumes, fertilizers and other farm implements to our affected farmers so they would recover from their losses,” Soriano said, noting that a majority of the affected farmers are vegetable growers.
The mayor further said that they will also provide technical assistance and brief the farmers on the correct use and management of the subsidy. PNA
