TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The provincial government of Nueva Vizcaya has started preparing for next year’s Ammungan Festival, the biggest festive celebration in the province.
In a meeting, Governor Carlos M. Padilla ordered for the early preparation of the 3-day Ammungan Festival.
Padilla also asked the festival committees that the trade fair should mainly consist of Vizcayano products such as furniture, processed food products, hand woven products and the Vizcayano soft-brooms.
“Kung hindi talaga maiiwasan na magkaroon ng ukay-ukay at tiangge, pwedeng ilagay sila sa likod at yung mga produkto naten [Vizcayano] ay ilagay sa harap,” Padilla said.
Unlike the past celebrations, Padilla said the festival should only run for three days and should include arts and culture promoting activities such as “balagtasan” or poetic competitions and literary contest.
Padilla also asked to change the annual activity on search for “Lola Ganda and Lolo Pogi” to search for “Idol kong Lolo and Lola” in respect to the elders.
Padilla said elders do not usually engage in beauty pageants because of their age, so they should just be given suitable appreciation and recognition instead. TNF
